Game Consoles

Game consoles will work with Iowa Telecom Internet Service if you have our DSL High Speed Internet service. Iowa Telecom Technical Support will assist you in setting up your console if you have a router. If you do not have a router you should contact the manufacturer of the console for assistance.

How to Find Your Game Console's MAC Address

Playstation 2

To obtain the MAC Address of the Network Adaptor, run the Startup disc. When the connection testing fails press the SELECT button on the DUALSHOCK 2 Analog controller for help and the MAC Address will be displayed in a HELP prompt.

Xbox

1. Turn on your Xbox console and be sure there is not a game disc in the disc tray.
2. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Xbox Live.
3. From the Connect Status screen, select Settings.
4. The 12-digit number located on the bottom-right corner of the Network Settings screen is the MAC address of your Xbox console. Do not change your Xbox console MAC address, just write it down so that you can use it later.

The following steps assume you cannot connect to Xbox Live until you finish configuring your Xbox console to use your PC's MAC address. Therefore, you should receive the following message: "Could not connect to Xbox Live. Do you want to troubleshoot your network connection?".

5. From the Network Settings screen, select Advanced.
6. From the Advanced screen, select MAC Address.
7. Enter the MAC address of your PC in the Xbox Dashboard. Do not enter any dashes, just letters and numbers.
8. To attempt connection to Xbox Live using the new MAC address, return (Back) to the Network Settings screen, then select Connect.
